How Pika's free plan works
Pika's Free tier is best read as a pay-as-you-go account. There is no monthly subscription fee, but generation runs on credit packs. Purchased top-ups expire 365 days after purchase, according to Pika's pricing page. Monthly plans add a credit allowance:
- Starter: $10/mo ($8 annual), 900 credits
- Creator: $35/mo ($28 annual), 3,150 credits, and commercial use starts here
- Fancy: $95+/mo, 8,550+ credits

Per-clip cost depends on the model you pick
Pika now offers several models, each with its own credit price. One example from Pika's page: Seedance 2.5 at 720p for 5 seconds costs 122 credits. On Starter, that is about $1.35 per clip, and the 900 credits cover around 7 of them. Cheaper models stretch further; premium ones go the other way.

Expiring credits vs credits that stay
Credit lifetimes are the quiet difference. Pika's plan credits reset monthly and its purchased packs last a year. Ours never expire. For someone who makes a batch of clips around a campaign, goes quiet for months, then comes back, that matters more than a few cents per clip.
Worked example: you top up $20 in October, make 11 clips for a holiday promo, and return the following October for 9 more. Total spend: $20, nothing lost. You also get watermark-free MP4s and presets for 9:16, 16:9, 1:1, 4:5 and 2:3. The tradeoffs: our clips go to a public feed by default (you can Unpublish any time), and they run 3 to 30 seconds.
Which to choose
