What Runway's plans actually buy you
According to Runway's official pricing page, the Free plan gives 125 one-time credits. Standard is $15 a month ($12 billed annually) for 625 credits, Pro is $35 for 2,250, and Max is $95 for 9,500. Gen-4.5 uses 60 credits per 5 second clip, so Standard comes to about 10 clips a month, or roughly $1.50 per clip.
Paid plans have no watermark, and Max lets credits roll over for up to a month. On the other plans, credits reset monthly. Runway has also sold an "Unlimited" tier in the past; the current page lists Free, Standard, Pro and Max, so check before you plan around it (we cover that in Runway Unlimited explained).

Stay if you generate daily and burn through your credits every month; then the reset doesn't hurt you. Runway's top plans also give heavy users far more room than a pay-per-clip service is designed for.
Who a $1-per-clip setup fits better
A freelancer who needs six clips for one client this month and zero next month. A marketer testing hooks for Shorts. Someone who just wants to see an idea move. For these people the relevant number isn't cost per clip at full usage, it's cost per clip actually made.
Worked example: you need 12 clips over a quarter. On Runway Standard you'd likely keep the plan for three months: $45. Here you'd buy one $20 top-up, use 12 credits, and still have 8 left for later. If you make more than about 10 clips every single month, Runway Standard's math gets close, so be honest with yourself about your volume.
